Candidate Views on Business and Economic Development
As Newmarket continues its growth and development, there is a recognition of the crucial role that a vibrant business community plays in the overall prosperity of our Town. The Newmarket Chamber of Commerce has played an active and contributing role towards ensuring a supportive and rich environment for our local businesses, and to attract new ones.
The Chamber asked each of the Candidates standing for election as a Ward Councilor, Regional Councilor and Mayor in the 2010 Municipal Election, for their views on key aspects of economic development. Specifically, the Chamber Questionnaire referenced key public reports and recommendations that have been developed over the last few years. Candidate responses were not edited, other than to enforce the 150-word limit for each answer. Their responses are listed below. The Chamber wishes to extend its sincere thanks to the candidates who replied, for taking the time to provide their input on these important issues.
Please note: Candidates for School Board Trustee Positions were not asked to respond to the Questionnaire, as the questions were mainly focused on muncipal economic development issues.
